you should be able to switch back and forth between edit modes and not lose any words!! that's crazy. I use casual html most of the time and flop over to rich text when I want to something behind a cut or to link up someone's username because my lame brain cannot remember the coding correctly but then I flop back to casual html and never lose anything. don't give up, try again. :)
